Introducing a brand new map for Painswick

Beautifully illustrated by talented artist Julia Bickham, this new map shows visitors where to eat and drink, where to visit and shop, and offers a selection of circular walks from the village. It also gives access to the monthly What's On summary, so people can check current opening times and find out what exciting things are on offer in the village while they are here.

The maps are now available to buy from the Tourist Information office, the Arts Cafe & Handmade in Painswick, Meadows, Nutgrove House, Murrays Estate Agents, and Rococo Garden (RRP £3).

How the map was created

In early 2022, with the help of Painswick Parish and Stroud District Councils, seed funding was obtained from the EU Regional Development Fund to develop a new visitor map for Painswick. The plan was to design a beautiful map in keeping with an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which would allow visitors to find their way around easily to everything this pocket of the Cotswolds has to offer. It was also very important that it was built on a sustainable model, which would allow the map to be updated as often as necessary to reflect current businesses, and to incorporate up-to-date information about events and opening times.

Map sales and advertising revenue will fund Painswick Collective to collate and circulate the monthly What's On summaries, as well as allowing updates to the map and future print runs as required.

The map and its contents were developed by a small team of committed individuals and Painswick Collective is indebted to them for their hard work.
